The next prop after the lamborghini to be destroyed will be a 3D cel shaded lorry here is a screenshot of me texturing it in Maya and then a rendered image of the final product.

New direction
Upon being informed I will not be able to use my superhero model because it has too much resemblance to Superman I have decided to just make an animation in comic book style of the robot destroying and terrorising a city as making a new model now will simply take too long, I have completed a test animation of the robot destroying a car something which was going to be in the original animation but may not be used in this one just I had already modelled everything, I may put it in as it can be part of the storyline.
I made a few sketches of what I wanted the piece to look like.

Starting on the robot and car animation scene
In this scene Superguy has thrown a car at the robot and the robot stops it telepathically and destroys it in mid air here are some early screenshots of what I hope to do with it.
Early development storyboard
Meant to upload this sooner but just sketchy storyboard idea of what I hope the animation will become

Making the first bit of animation
First I made a draft of what I want the title sequence to look like in After Efects, I added a animated lens flare into the title sequence at the end.
To make it more dynamic at the start I used a black solid and a shatter effect to make it feel as though the animation was breaking through into your vision.
I used a lot of colors and animation effects to make the title sequence interesting to the viewer and would grab attention.
I then used the After Effects plugin keylight to take the green away leaving just the smoke effect.
And the finished product. :)

I decided to make a test animation of my superhero model to see how it might look like in the finished product, I decided to have him flying through the sky and through clouds I made with the cloud effects in Maya.
I wanted it to look like he propels himself forward like in the new Superman trailer an that a sudden turn of pace would affect the environment so I got a smoke effect in green screen to make it seem as if he propels himself through the clouds.I then used the After Effects plugin keylight to take the green away leaving just the smoke effect.

Comic book cover and Superguy test animation
I'm going to use this as a texture on a 3D model to make it spin as a camera comes towards it for the opening title.. I also animated a test animation of the superhero model to show what the final product might look like I'm just waiting for that to render. Here is a screen capture of the animation process I used clouds and a sky texture of a sphere to get a nice looking sky for the superhero to fly through.
